I find the Nexstand K7 to be a very good first laptop stand and is fitting for a lot of people who just want to buy a relatively good stand for a little amount of money. It doesn’t look very expensive, but at the same time – it isn’t.

Nexstand K7 Looks
The Nexstand K7 is a plastic looking laptop stand, which I personally don’t really like, but you may. It has a pretty basic look for being a foldable stand with “Nexstand” written on the sides.
When it’s folded it’s small and sleek.
When in use, you can see the two metal “sticks” that the back legs of the stand slide down on when unfolding. I don’t think this is a very appealing and aesthetic part of the stand.
I would prefer a laptop stand to be just one color, or at least different colors matching all over the stand that’s not just colorless metal. But, for the price, I don’t think it’s a big deal. It only really matters if your obsessed with your work aesthetics.

Nexstand K7 Portability
The portability is something you just have to emphasize on in a Nexstand K7 review.
The folding feature, in addition to the noticeable light weight of this stand makes it highly portable and easy to bring when traveling, or just back and forth to the office.
It also comes with a small fabric bag that you can have the stand in when you bring it with you, so it doesn’t unfold.
I would easily say it’s one of the most portable laptop stands money can buy.

Nexstand K7 Adjustability
Unfortunately, the Nexstand K7 doesn’t have an adjustable height and can only hold the laptop in one singular position. The set height of the laptop should be at eye level, or a bit under (the optimal height) for almost everyone.
If you try to pull the back legs on the stand forward to make the stand more angled, you’ll see that the stand also gets more narrow. This is because the stand expends to the sides and in the back at the same time.
When I tried using the laptop while it was more angled up, it was very instable and kept extending back to the full width and the one angle it’s meant for.

How Much Space Does it Take?
Using the Nexstand K7, I had more space on my desk than when I just used my laptop. The stand is a bit more narrow than my laptop so I got more space for notebooks and other things on the sides.
I could also have something small, a small notebook for example, underneath the stand. I didn’t, but you can if you want to of course.
Ease of Use
This laptop stand is terribly easy to set up since the only thing you have to do is unfold the stand by pulling the parts to the sides, holding at the bottoms, and then folding up the two small parts preventing the laptop from sliding of the stand.
After that you can just place the laptop on the stand and you’re good to go.
The only issue I found with using this stand was the lacking grip of the two back legs. The two front legs have a grippy rubber, but the back legs don’t.
It would really help to also have non-slipping rubber on the back legs of the stand to prevent it from moving around when typing on the stand.
Sometimes when I was typing too fast or pressed the keys to hard, the stand moved a little and I had to move it back.
Do You Need a Separate Keyboard and Mouse to Use the Nexstand K7?
No, you don’t necessarily need to have an external keyboard or mouse to us this stand, but it could still be nice to have.
If you travel a lot with your stand it could be smart to not use a separate keyboard with you since it’s extra luggage.
If you on the other hand work at one place all the time it could be a good investment to get a keyboard for this stand. After writing on the laptop’s keyboard while it was on the stand for a long time, my wrist started to somewhat hurt.
That’s because the laptop is elevated from the desk and angled which forces you to have your wrists in an unnatural position.

Thinking about the low price of $23 (at the time of this writing) compared to many other stands I think it’s very worth it, especially for a first stand. If you look at the overall, I recon it’s about what you would expect for a cheaper laptop stand, and maybe even better, emphasizing on the portability.
So, if you’re thinking about a buying a cheaper laptop stand, especially one that you could bring everywhere, go for this one! It’s great value for your money.
